Here you can explore the many shops, restaurants and bars, visit the surf beach or take in a movie. We couldn't have wished for more. With its rustic, hand built sandstone open fireplace, comfy leather chairs, soft cowhide rugs and full-length window box seat, The Little Black Shack is also a cosy winter cabin. There are two bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Limited shopping facilities are available via a short boat ride to Palm Beach, and there are more comprehensive shops in the surrounding area. Mackerel Beach is largely considered a " holiday home haven", [6] [7] but it is increasingly seen as a beachside suburb , although access to central Sydney requires a boat private, ferry, water taxi followed by a 43km road journey. The area defined by the PDEA prohibited dogs from being walked past the northernmost house, as this region constitutes part of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park , home to many native mammals, reptiles and bird species. There is a public telephone booth near the wharf.

Can't wait to return! There are two bedrooms and 1 bathroom. But once we were at the shack we loved the view, atmosphere and how well it was set up. Cars may be left parked near the ferry terminal at Palm Beach. The main bedroom has a generous king bed and access to a private lawn and garden. Just metres from the water, every room features windows and French or barn doors opening out to uninterrupted views of Mackerel Beach, Pittwater, Barrenjoey Headland, Palm Beach and beyond. There is an outdoor shower set amongst the trees half way down the front steps leading to a secluded sandy beach at low tide. The views across the water are stunning and the sound of the sea drifts throughs the rooms. Its stocked with all the pantry basics and an amazing kitchen with all the little details that make a place extra special - linen sheets, Aesop products in the bathroom, fluffy towels. We did daily swims, kayaked and even fished! We had an amazing experience at the little black shack. From here you can make the trek up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse, walk to Palm Beach, dine at the local restaurants, bars and cafes or browse the shops, galleries and Palm Beach markets on set days. The room is built from the original sandstone, lined with timber and has a soft cowhide rug on the floor. It also enjoys stunning panoramic water views through the window and barn door. Ingrid and Jamie have made a charming, cosy home from this old cottage and have furnished it with much love and style. Here you can rinse off after swimming or shower under the stars on warm summer evenings. Many residents disagreed with this decision. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a short getaway from Sydney that feels like you're a million miles away. The window seat spanning the full length of the front of the lounge room, is the perfect spot to relax with a good book, chill out with your own playlist, take a nap or gaze out of any one of the 6 windows overlooking the stunning beaches and bay. Residents' rubbish is collected weekly, but there is no public facility. Rainwater is harvested for bathing and washing which is recycled to irrigate the main garden. The kitchen features concrete bench tops, wooden cupboards made from the original floorboards, a large farmhouse sink, commercial grade cookware, microwave, Ilve gas stove and electric oven, perfect for creating your favourite meals.
